Stuntmen in Hyderabad threaten to disrupt film shoots

By IANS,

Chennai : Stuntmen in Hyderabad have asserted they only have the right to perform action sequences in Andhra Pradesh — even in other language films. And they have threatened to disrupt film shootings if their demand is not met, sources told IANS.

“Producers who began shooting in Andhra Pradesh following a ban on shootings in Chennai between 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in public places, are now planning to come back following the threat from stuntmen in Hyderabad to disrupt shootings saying only they can work in that state – even in Tamil films,” S. Bhasker, president of South Indian Stuntmen’s Union said.

“Politicians say that from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, India is one. But, we feel like foreigners even in the neighbouring south Indian states,” a producer said on condition of anonymity.

“According to the rules of Film Employees’ Federation of South India (FEFSI), producers can shoot their films anywhere in India. If stuntmen in Andhra Pradesh are creating trouble, this issue needs to be seriously addressed,” Bhasker said.

The matter would be discussed at the annual conference of stuntmen’s associations scheduled to take place next week.

“Till then Tamil stuntmen will not work in Hyderabad,” Bhasker added.
