New Delhi: The University of Calcutta has decided to confer upon Prof. Mushirul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, the Degree of Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa).
The University Senate of the University of Calcutta, with the consent of its Chancellor and the Governor of West Bengal Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi has proposed to confer upon Prof. Mushirul Hasan, the Degree of Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa).
The degree shall be conferred at the Annual Convocation of the University of Calcutta on September 23, 2008. The Convocation will be presided over by the Chancellor of the university.
Prof. Hasan is a recipient of the Padma Shri in 2007, the Sukumar Sen Gold Medal from the Asiatic Society of Bengal in 2005 and D. Litt. from the Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon University, Allalhabad in 2006.
