Lonavala (Maharashtra) : The police Friday sent a reminder to the forensic laboratory in Pune to expedite the chemical analysis report of the 40 people, including 22 customs officials and 11 bar dancers, accused of having a wild party here last month, a police official said.
The Lonavala police early Aug 27 swooped down on the wild party at a posh private bungalow in the Khandala hill station, according to senior inspector S. Darekar.
All the accused face charges under Indian Penal Code section 292, pertaining to obscenity, vulgar dancing, watching pornographic films, and section 65/66-B of the prohibition act, pertaining to possession and consumption of alcohol without a valid licence, he added.
“Today (Friday) we have sent a reminder to the forensic laboratory, Pune, to expedite and dispatch the chemical analysis reports of all the accused since the matter is now over two weeks old. We hope to file the charge sheets against all the accused by next week,” Darekar told IANS.
The wild party resulted in the summary transfer of the 22 customs officials, who were posted at the Mumbai International Airport, to various locations out of Mumbai.
During the raid, a majority of the intoxicated officials, who were shocked by the sudden police presence, surrendered meekly to the law enforcers.
Many of them were improperly attired and some of the dancers were caught in a semi-nude state performing indecent acts.
Darekar said that apart from the 22 customs officials, the orchestra team comprising seven men and 11 bar dancers, were arrested.
