Colombo : Sri Lanka Sunday vehemently condemned the serial blasts in New Delhi as “barbaric acts of terrorism” that cannot be justified under any circumstances.
The foreign ministry in a statement said Sunday that it “is with great distress” that the government and people of Sri Lanka have learned about a series of terrorist bomb attacks in New Delhi “that left at least 20 civilians killed and over 90 wounded during the busy hours Saturday”.
“Sri Lanka unequivocally condemns such barbaric acts of terrorism which can never be justified under any circumstance for whatever reason,” the foreign ministry statement said.
“In this hour of grief, government and people of Sri Lanka stand by the people and the Government of India in sympathy with those who suffered as a result of indiscriminate terrorist bombing and stand in solidarity with all comprehensive measures that are being taken by authorities in India to eradicate terrorism,” it said.
