Beijing : At least 460,000 people have been evacuated from the Chinese provinces of Zhejiang and Fujiang, as Tropical Storm Sinlaku approached.
Nearly 230,000 people were taken to safe places until 21:00 local time Sunday, according to the Fujian flood control department, with a similar figure reported in Zhejiang.
Typhoon Sinlaku weakened, becoming a tropical storm Monday morning, with its center located 122 miles southeast of Wenzhou, in Zhejiang, at 11:00 local time, moving north-northwest at 3 km per hour, according to weather bureau sources.
It may change course towards north-northeast in Zhejiang waters, moving away from mainland, they added.
It made landfall in Taiwan on Friday, killing four people and leaving another seven missing and causing a power blackout, water supply cut and work suspension on the island.
