Shimla : A central government team will visit Himachal Pradesh Sep 24-26 to assess the damage caused by excessive rainfall, a minister said Sunday.
Revealing this to IANS, Revenue Minister Gulab Singh told IANS that the state government had sought Rs.10 billion from New Delhi for relief, rehabilitation and repair work in the state.
“We’re still assessing the extent of the damage but it is quite huge. A vast network of roads has been damaged, hampering rescue operations in remote areas,” he added.
Singh said torrential rains had killed 43 people in the region. Thirty-eight of the fatalities were reported from Shimla district.
