Two construction workers buried under mud

Ghaziabad : Two construction workers were killed and five injured Tuesday evening when they were buried under a mound of soil that they had dug for a building.

Sources said about 16 men were working at the construction site of Cosmos Group on National Highway 24 when the mud they had dug out for a basement got loosened and buried them in an avalanche. The incident occurred around 8.20 p.m.

Two construction workers – Usman Sheikh (45) and Miranjul (32) were killed in the incident. The injured were admitted to a private hospital where their condition was stated to be critical.

A medical team of MMG Hospital was rushed to the spot to render first aid. District Magistrate Deepak Agarwal and senior superintendent of police L. Ravi Kumar visited the site of accident.

The police said Deepak Mittal, the CEO of Cosmos Group, and the site contractor were absconding. “We have sent teams to look out for the men,” Ravi Kumar said.
