Lucknow : Former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is scheduled to be in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad district later Friday, the start of a two-day visit, officials said.
During the visit, Kalam will participate in programmes organised by educational institutions, including Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) and Allahabad University (AU), they added.
“Kalam is expected to arrive here at the Bamrauli airport at 3.55 p.m. after which he will participate in programmes organised by AU-affiliated S.S. Khanna girls’ degree college at 4.30 p.m.,” university’s vice-chancellor Rajen Govind Harshe told IANS on phone.
At the girls’ college, Kalam will inaugurate a science exhibition ‘vision 2020’ and will also interact with the students, he added.
In the evening, the former president will address the students of IIIT and inaugurate a computer centre, officials added.
Kalam will interact with students of Shambhunath Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET) Saturday and inspect a bio-diesel plant and jatropha farm of the institute, officials said.
