Offering condolences to the nation and the families of the innocent victims, Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan, head of the AIMMM, the umbrella body of Indian Muslim organisations, demanded that the security agencies should meticulously probe this blast and refrain from immature comments and leaks as seen earlier.

Dr Khan said that now that, according to Delhi police, all the dreaded “masterminds” had been either killed or arrested, no new blasts should have taken place. But the fact that blasts are still taking place in the very capital of the nation and under the nose of these agencies, security and intelligence people should wake up and direct their attention beyond the clichéd “terrorists” and their unknown organisations like “Indian Mujahidin” and started looking for the real beneficiaries from these sad and shocking incidents.

Dr Khan said that the main culprits may be foreign powers which do not want to see a peaceful and prosperous India. Another possible culprit may be the home-grown Hindutva terrorist outfits which have been caught red-handed making and exploding bombs in recent years and are even today attacking the Christian community in broad daylight since the last two months in a number of states across the country. A third culprit may be rogue elements in our own security agencies which are hand-in-glove with the communal forces which seek to polarise the country on communal lines before the forthcoming state and general elections.

Dr Khan added that yet another possible source of these terror attacks may be the business interests which are eager to sell us billions-worth of worthless security gadgets of all kinds and they cannot succeed in their efforts unless a sense of insecurity prevails in the country. If this last assumption is correct these interests can very easily buy some criminal mafia elements in our country to spread chaos in return for petty amounts of money.

The security and intelligence agencies have been barking at the wrong tree, said Dr Khan, adding that it is time these agencies widened their scope of probe and caught the real culprits who for want of focus have been avoiding the net and continuing their criminal activities.
