Gandhinagar : Parties in the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government do not have faith in one another’s leadership to keep their coalition together, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said here Wednesday.
Speaking at a function to inaugurate the Gandhinagar office of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani, Modi said the cabinet ministers who have been shifting loyalties have no idea who is leading them within the alliance.
The UPA members have no idea who they would choose as their prime ministerial candidate, he added.
“The NDA (BJP-led National Democratic Alliance) is determined to make Advani the prime minister. As far as NDA is concerned, there is no squabbling within the alliance as the party’s (BJP’s) prime ministerial candidate had ensured that there is consensus on every issue within the alliance,” Modi said.
Advani Wednesday filed his nomination papers for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.
Modi has been made in charge of the BJP’s election campaign in western India and BJP leaders in other parts of the country also want him to campaign for them.
He admitted that he was spending less time in this Gujarat capital, and added that he would not be missed by people in the constituency as Advani would start campaigning here shortly.
