Bhopal: At long last the mistreatment with Urdu in Bhopal-based Barkatullah University and the folly of placing its post-graduate studies under Sanskrit Department in the university seems to have been set right.
The study of Masters’ degree in Urdu literature in Barkatullah University, which was unfortunately under Sanskrit Department’s supervision up till now, has been placed under the Arabic Department in the university.
The decision has been taken by the new Vice Chancellor Prof. Narendra Jain of the university. This information was given by Prof. Mohammad Hassan Khan, Head of the Arabic Department in the university, while talking to newsmen here on Monday.
Prof. Hassan said that this decision will go a long way in Urdu teaching as it will be under the watchful eyes of people having knowledge of the language and well aware of its intricacies.
He said that in order to give fillip to the study of Urdu under the new dispensation an Urdu training programme is being organized by the Arabic Department from April 15 to 18 in the university. The programme would be inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Narendra Jain in the Micro-Biology Department’s seminar hall of the university on April 15 at 3 pm.
Prof. Hassan revealed that Prof. Jain after taking over the reins has taken many measures to enhance the educational standard of the university. He has also taken steps to solve the problems of minorities’ students. In this context he has constituted an advisory committee for the coaching of minorities’ students.
