Mayawati ready for any action if proved to have money abroad

By IANS,

Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati Monday said she is ready to face any action if her political rivals, particularly Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, prove that she has any money stashed in foreign banks.

“I openly challenge Mulayam Singh, who during his public meetings alleged that I have money deposited in foreign banks. I am ready for any stringent action, if Mulayam or any of my political opponents establish the allegations against me,” Mayawati told a gathering in Mirzapur district, 300 km from the state capital.

“Unlike leaders of SP and other political parties, I don’t have even a single penny deposited in foreign banks,” she said, promising to enact laws for bringing back the black money of Indian politicians and others from foreign banks, if voted to power.

“Once we assume power at the centre, we will make every effort to enact the law for bringing back black money from banks abroad,” said Mayawati.

She attacked the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not taking any steps to enact a law for bringing back the illegal money from foreign bank accounts.

“Even after having their governments in the centre, the BJP and the Congress were never serious in enacting such a law,” she said.
