Disclosing this to reporters here, state Congress president Pranab Mukherjee said though his party has not put up any candidate in Kolkata, the prime minister will address rallies in the metropolis as it was the state’s nerve centre.

“We don’t have any candidate there. But our poll partner Trinamool has. A main reason for inviting Dr. Singh is that he has run the coalition government in Delhi for the last five years with great ability and efficiency.”

Congress sources said the prime minister could come either May 4 or 5.
