Transport Minister Subhas Chakraborty in an election meeting threatened Chattradhar Mahato, who is spearheading a tribal movement in Lalgarh area under the aegis of People’s Committee Against Police Atrocity (PCAPA).

“We collected the video recording of Chakraborty’s speech and will send it to the Election Commission tomorrow (Tuesday),” state chief electoral officer Debashis Sen told reporters here.

Chakraborty had said no one had the right to stop the police from entering Lalgarh – a tribal dominated pocket in West Midnapore district.

“Had I been the home minister, I would have picked him up and thrown him on the ground and then put him behind bars,” Chakraborty said in his outburst against Mahato last Thursday.

“Who says he (tribal leader Chattradhar Mahato) is a representative of people?” the CPI-M leader angrily asked.
