Ottapalam (Kerala) : P. Govinda Das, a 48-year-old poll official, died here Wednesday, just a day before the Lok Sabha polls, police said.
Das collapsed Wednesday morning at the NSS High School here while he was waiting to collect the election material.
Das, principal of the Cherpalaserry Government High School, was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital where he died, a police officer said.
Over 100,000 polling officials are working in more than 20,508 polling booths in the state. There are 21,865,324 voters, of which 11,337,483 are women.
