Two women robbed of passport, US currency in Noida

Noida : Two women who were returning after shopping at a mall here were robbed of their passport, US currency and other valuables at gunpoint by two men on a motorcycle, police said Saturday.

The victims, Swati Dwivedi and Monika, residents of Sector 20, were returning home in a cycle rickshaw at around 11 p.m. Friday after shopping at the Great India Place (GIP) mall, when their rickshaw was intercepted by the two men, police said.

The men had their faces covered and they held a gun to Swati’s head and snatched the bag containing her passport, $1,500, Rs.2,500, her PAN card, and a debit card and other important documents.

“We have registered the complaint and are attempting to arrest the culprits,” Inspector General of Police (Meerut Range) Gurbachan Lal said.

In another incident of the same nature, Pradeep Sethi, a resident of Sector 19, lodged a complaint with the police Saturday that two men on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain from his wife Preeti Sethi who was on a cycle rickshaw.
