Raipur : From Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh downwards, most of the state cabinet is camping in Mt Abu in Rajasthan to attend meditation classes. A Congress legislator who couldn’t join the trip wryly commented that “we hope they will come back with new ideas on how to handle insurgents”.

Nine of the 12 members of the state’s council of ministers, including the chief minister, Sunday reached the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwavidyalay at Mount Abu in Rajasthan to attend a four-day meditation course.

Raman Singh is attending the meditation classes with his wife Veena Singh and will return to the state capital Raipur late Tuesday while his ministerial colleagues will attend all the sessions till Wednesday.

Besides the ministers, more than two dozen legislators of the 90-member state assembly belonging to ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well as the opposition Congress are attending the meditation classes with their families.

State Assembly Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik and Leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey are also at Mt Abu for the meditation classes.

“It’s a great feeling to be at Mt Abu. The entire atmosphere here is absolutely unique and peaceful. This is the perfect place to draw energy through meditation and focus on work with more commitment and dedication,” School Education and Public Works Department Minister Brijmohan Agrawal told IANS over phone from Mt Abu.

A Congress legislator who could not go to Mt Abu for family reasons said: “Since almost the entire government is camping at Mt Abu, we hope they will come back with new ideas on how to handle insurgents that have threatened in recent years to take over Chhattisgarh.”
