Kochi: Yesterday was a day of prayers and consolation in Kodappanakkal house at Panakkad in Malappuram. Hundreds of people visited the house of the deceased Shihab Thangal yesterday also to share the sorrow of the family and party members. Hundreds offered funeral prayers in other parts of the world too.
Besides party leaders and members, noted men of religion and culture came to Panakkad yesterday to offer condolences at the unexpected demise of the peace icon of Kerala. PC Thomas, former central minister, Dr PK Varrier (Ayurveda), Lalu Alex, film star, P Gopalan Kutty Master, RSS state general secretary, Damodaran, Malappuram-Palakkad area secretary of RSS, PFI leaders A Saeed, E Aboobaker and Majeed Faisi, Kanthapuram AP Aboobaker Musliyar (leader of the AP faction of Samastha Kerala Jam’iyyathul Ulema), TP Abdullakoya Madani (Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen state president) and CP Kunhimuhammed Muslim Service Society) were among the visitors. Family members and party leaders welcomed the guests.
The RSS has ideological differences with the Muslim League but we respected Muhammedali Shihab Thangal, said the RSS leaders. They added that they had earlier also come to meet Thangal at the house.
Family members and party leaders offered a ziarath to the qabristhan in the afternoon. Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal led the prayers held there for the deceased leader.
Funeral prayers were held in different parts of UAE for the leader of the Kerala Muslims. Hundreds participated in the funeral prayers held in the Holy Haram for Thangal. The prayer was organised by the Makka chapter of the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre. Payyanad Sayyid Imbichikoya Thangal led the prayer.
