Aligarh intellectuals condemn denial of house to Emraan Hasmi

Patna: The Millat Beadri Muhim Committee (MBMC) of Aligarh has condemned denial of NOC to actor Emraan Hashmi by the Nibbana Cooperative Housing Society in posh Pali Hill area in Mumbai, allegedly for the actor being a Muslim.

The MBMC held a meeting on 4th August, attended by intellectuals and scholars of Aligarh Muslim University. They strongly condemned this shameful behavior of the society and demanded the government to set up a high level enquiry in the incident to bring out the truth. It also appealed to both state as well as national Minority Commissions to intervene to protect dignity and equality in the country.

At the end of the meeting a 5-point resolution was passed.

1. Maharashtra Government should institute a high level inquiry on the treatment meted out to Mr. Emraan Hashmi on account of his religion.

2. The MBMC, Aligarh strongly condemns the actions of Maharashtra police by which legal cases under Sec. 295-A, 153-A, 177 and 182 against Mr. Emraan Hashmi and Sec. 12-B and Sec. 34 against film director and social worker Shri Mahesh Bhatt has been filed.

3. The complainant is BJP leader. The fact indicates that BJP is involved in destabilizing communal amity of the nation, as assembly elections are due in September, 09.

4. The MBMC, Aligarh demands from State Minorities Commission of Maharashtra and National Commission for Minorities to intervene in the matter immediately as both the persons are well known secularists and esteemed citizens of India.

5. Maharashtra Government should also inquire relationships between Nibana Cooperative Housing Society, Mumbai and BJP.



The intellectuals who attended the meeting included Prof. Humayun Murad,fomer Dean, AMU,Prof.Razaullah Khan,Chairman,Deptt. of Civil Engg. AMU, Dr.Md. Shahid, former Secretary,AMU Teachers’ Association, Dr.Naseem Ashraf, ex-president, AMU Students Union and Jasim Mohammad, the President of MBMC etc.
