New Delhi: More than 500 people were booked here Friday night for violating traffic rules, police said Saturday.
During a special drive between 9 p.m. and midnight Friday, the traffic police booked 301 people for drunken driving. A total of 542 people were fined, 76 of them for dangerous driving, while 64 vehicles were impounded, police said.
“The driving licences of all the violators for drunken driving were seized by the traffic police and State Transport Authority (STA),” said a senior police official.
The official added that the names of the violators will be regularly forwarded to STA so that their driving licenses are suspended or cancelled immediately.
