Shimla: Several government buildings and bridges in Himachal Pradesh were damaged due to a cloudburst Friday, an official said.
“Many buildings and bridges were damaged in a cloudburst in Nirmand sub-tehsil in Kullu district,” Deputy Commissioner B.N. Nanta told IANS over telephone.
He said that an under-construction 4 MW Sechi mini-hydropower project in the area was severely affected.
“There is no loss to human life. Some of the houses in the affected area are under threat due to massive landslides. But the villagers have been evacuated to safer areas,” he said.
Flash floods triggered by cloudbursts are common during the monsoon season in Himachal Pradesh.
