Pune : Pune, the city worst hit by swine flu, is facing a shortage of the protective ‘N95’ face masks, Congress leader Suresh Kalmadi, who represents the city in the Lok Sabha, said Friday.
“The only shortage we now have is of N95 face masks being used by doctors and paramedical staff. We have placed a fresh demand for procurement of masks with the health ministry. We have already received 200,000 Tamiflu capsules,” Kalmadi told reporters here.
“We have roped in several private hospitals and we need more face masks. I have also given Rs.2.5 million to the district administration for purchasing face masks,” he said.
Pune has reported 14 of India’s 22 swine flu deaths so far.
