Ferozepur (Punjab): Four suspected Pakistani smugglers were arrested Saturday and a night vision device, some arms and ammunition and two kilograms of heroin was seized from them by Indian border guards in this Punjab frontier district, an official said.

“We apprehended four smugglers while they were trying to cross the border. From the preliminary investigation, it is clear that they are smugglers but we suspect they might also have links with some terrorist outfit,” Border Security Force (BSF) Deputy Inspector General Jagir Singh told IANS.

“This is for the first time that we have recovered a night vision device during a smuggling attempt. We have seized two China-made pistols, 17 rounds of bullets, two kilograms of heroin, some Pakistani currency notes, mobile phones and four SIM cards,”he added

The smugglers were arrested while they were trying to cross the Khemkaran sector in Freozepur, around 300 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
