New Delhi : The Indian embassy in Kabul escaped damage when a suicide bomber exploded in the Afghan capital Saturday killing at least three people and wounding over 60. All Indian nationals are safe, official sources here said.
The car bomb exploded outside the NATO headquarters in Kabul.
“We are in touch with the Indian mission. Fortunately no Indian has been killed and the mission is also safe,” an official in the external affairs ministry told IANS.
The explosion comes less than a week before Afghanistan’s presidential and provincial elections.
Around 4,000 Indians are working in Afghanistan in reconstruction projects supported by New Delhi.
A powerful bomb outside the Indian embassy last year killed over 50 people including two Indian diplomats and two Indian security personnel.
