Biography of Shihab Thangal released

Kochi: The biography of late Panakkad Syed Muhammedali Shihab Thangal was released by Ramesh Chennithala, president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee. ‘Shihab Thangal Videsha Rajyangalil’ (Shihab Thangal in Foreign Countries) was written by Mujeeb Thangal Konnaru and published by the Al Ain Sunni Youth Centre. Panakkad Basheerali Shihab Thangal received the first copy of the book.

The unflinching stand taken by Shihab Thangal in the matter of secularism and communal harmony will be thankfully remembered by the country always, said Mr Ramesh Chennithala while releasing the book in the Municipal Town hall at Malappuram. He was the light for the society. His visits and friendship with leaders of the world were a source of strength for the expatriate community. The presence of Shihab Thangal was helpful for keeping good relations between India and other countries also, he added.

PK Kunhalikkutty, state general secretary of the Muslim League, inaugurated the function. Athippatta Moideen Kutty Musliyar presided over the function. The book was introduced by author Mujeeb Thangal Konnaru. The Al Huda Excellence Award was presented to Dr Puthoor Rahman, UAE KMCC president, by Mr Kunhalikkutty. Abdussamad Samadani, national secretary of Muslim League, delivered a speech in memory of Shihab Thangal.

M Ummer, MLA of Malappuram, E Muhammed Kunhi, president of District Congress Committee, Kiliyamannil Yakoob, municipal chairman, VP Pookoya Thangal, PA Jabbar Haji and Dr Bahaudheen Nadwi spoke. EK Moideen Haji welcomed the gathering and S Hameed delivered the vote of thanks.

The book deals with the family roots, birth, childhood, time of education in Egypt, foreign travels, political biography etc of Shihab Thangal.
