Jammu : One person was killed when militants believed to be from the Lashkar-e-Taiba ambushed a police patrol in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district early Tuesday, police said.
Police said militants opened fire on the police team in Marmat, more than 8,000 feet above sea level, in Doda, about 200 km from here. A special police officer (SPO), Mohammed Ashraf, was killed.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Doda) Parbhat Singh told reporters that intensive searches had been launched but the rains and slippery mountainous terrain were causing problems.
On Aug 5, Hizbul Mujahideen commander Noor Mohammad Qadir was killed in the same area.
