Patna : Over 20 people, including six women, have been killed by lightning in different parts of Bihar in the last couple of days, officials said Tuesday.
Most of the victims killed Sunday and Monday were farm labourers and farmers.
Official sources in the State Disaster Management Department said that more than 10 people were killed by lightning when they were busy transplanting paddy Monday afternoon. Six people were killed in Patna, four in Aurangabad and two in Bhojpur district.
At least 12 people were killed and over half a dozen injured Sunday when lightning struck them in the districts of Jamui, Munger, Lakhisarai and Patna.
Three women were killed at Bela village in Lakhisarai when they were transplanting paddy Sunday afternoon, while four women were injured and hospitalised.
In Jamui, two people, including a woman, were killed after lightning struck them and in Munger six people, including a woman, died due to lightning.
A man was also killed by lightning in a village under Phulwarisharief near state capital Patna.
Last week six people died due to lightning strikes in Aurangabad and Nawada districts.
