Madrid : Spanish police have dismantled one of the country’s most active drug rings, which smuggled hashish in prams with sleeping babies inside, police said Wednesday.
The suspects tried to introduce Moroccan hashish through customs by hiding it underneath the babies’ mattresses when entering Spain.
The ring was also believed to have mailed chocolate bars containing cocaine from Chile to Spain, and to have trafficked in stolen cars.
Police detained 21 people in Malaga, Cadiz and Ceuta. They included eight Spaniards, five Moroccans, five French citizens, two Britons and once Chilean national.
Police seized drugs including 1.6 tons of hashish.
