Jammu: There is some good news in store for Kashmiri Hindu migrants with the state government likely to finalize an employment package for them Thursday.
The cabinet is meeting Thursday, according to official sources, to finalise an employment policy for the unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
There are an estimated half a million-plus unemployed youth in the state.
A team of ministers was giving finishing touches to the package to be discussed at the cabinet meeting Thursday, sources said.
According to sources, the stress would be on employability of the youth. This also envisages a stipend for the unemployed youth till they get jobs.
Preference would be given to youth approaching the overage limit for employment – 37 years.
However, the main feature of this employment package, to be announced Saturday, is at least 3,000 jobs for the Kashmiri Pandit youth, who have been living as migrants in Jammu and other parts of the country.
An official told IANS on the condition of anonymity that if there were no objections by some of the ministers from the Valley, who are opposed to employment package for Kashmiri Hindu youth, the package would ensure that Kashmiri Hindus get 3,000 jobs in next couple of months.
