Chandigarh: Four people allegedly set a man on fire in Haryana’s Sonipat village in a case of road rage, police said Wednesday.
The victim, Pawan Kumar of Parnala village, was waylaid, thrashed and then set on fire Monday night by four unidentified occupants of an Indica car.
Haryana police seemed to be clueless about the identity of four men yet.
Kumar died Tuesday at a hospital in Rohtak, where he was referred to in a critical condition with burn injuries from the hospital in Sonipat.
Police officials said the victim was set on fire after his motorcycle hit the car while he was driving back from a wedding in a nearby village.
The car occupants chased him and later waylaid him. The victim was beaten and later set on fire after pouring petrol on him.
District police chief M.S. Sheoran said: “We have not found any clues to the identity of the accused. They fled from the spot after setting the victim on fire.”
