Minority Affairs Ministry launches National Monitoring Scheme

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Minority Affairs today launched National Monitoring Scheme to monitor the implementation of the Central government’s minority welfare programs like MsDP and minority scholarship schemes.

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India and National Productivity Council of India (NPC), an autonomous organisation under Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion was signed for monitoring the implementation of the following schemes of the Ministry of Minority Affairs and its organisations:-

(i) Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MSDP).

(ii) Free Coaching & Allied Scheme for the candidates belonging to minority communities.

(iii) Mega scholarship schemes: Merit-cum-means, Pre-matric and Post-matric scholarships.

(iv) Schemes of Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF), National Minority Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC), and Central Wakf Council (CWC).

The monitoring committee will also monitor any other scheme to be stipulated by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The MoU was signed by R. Bandyopadhyay, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Ministry of Minority Affairs (Additional Charge) and N.C. Vasudevan, Director General, National Productivity Council. Salman Khurshid, Minister for Minority Affairs and Corporate Affairs presided over the function.

As provided in the Memorandum of Understanding, NPC will select 150 National Level Monitors (NLMs) – 90 NLMs for monitoring of Multi-sectoral Development Programme for 90 Minority Concentration Districts (MCDs) and 60 NLMs for monitoring of other schemes of Ministry of Minority Affairs and its organisations in non-MSDP districts.

Under this monitoring scheme, applications would be invited from Ex-servicemen from the Armed Forces in the rank of at least Major and above, retired Para-Military officers of equivalent rank, retired civil servants equivalent to an Under Secretary to the Government of India or Deputy Secretary and above in the State/UT Governments, in the age group of 50-65 years for enrolment as National Level Monitors.
