The rebels late Saturday blasted the JMM’s makeshift election office at Pandu village which comes under Visrampur constituency of Palamau, around 170 km from here.

The JMM has fielded jailed Maoist leader Jugal Pal Ranchi from Visrampur, which goes to polls in the fifth phase of the ongoing assembly elections Dec 18.

The Maoists have asked people to boycott the polls.

“There are two groups among the Maoists. One supports the jailed Maoist fighting the poll and the second oppose such a move. The move to blast the makeshift office indicates that Maoists will not spare even their cadre willing to join the democratic system,” a police official involved in anti-Maoist operations told IANS.

In Simdega district, Maoist guerrillas have pasted pamphlets in some areas asking candidates not to campaign for the elections.
