New Delhi: Six new cases of dengue were reported in the national capital Tuesday, taking the total number of people affected by the mosquito-borne disease to 1,132 so far, a health official said.
“On Tuesday, Delhi reported six new cases of dengue. The cumulative total number of cases now is 1,132,” Debashish Bhattacharya, state nodal officer for dengue cases, told IANS.
With the fall in temperature, the number of such cases will also fall. This is because the breeding of the carrier mosquito cannot occur below 15 degrees Celsius, he added.
Of the total affected, 15 patients are from outside Delhi.
Three people have died due to the disease this year in Delhi – two boys aged 15 and 10 and a 45-year-old man.
Last year, the capital reported two dengue deaths and a total of 1,312 cases.
