Mumbai : Pravin Mahajan, who is serving life sentence for killing elder brother and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, continues to remain critical in a Thane hospital here Monday, doctors attending on him said.
Mahajan was admitted to the Jupiter Hospital late Friday following a brain haemorrhage. He was rushed to the hospital around 10.30 p.m. after he complained of fatigue, giddiness and severe headache.
“A second CT Scan was conducted on him yesterday (Sunday) which showed the same status of the pontine haemorrhage as the first CT Scan done shortly after admission last Friday,” a hospital spokesman said.
Even his neurological condition remains unchanged, he continues to remain critical and is on life-support systems, the spokesman added.
Pravin was released on parole from Nashik Central Jail. He was required to report back to the jail Saturday after completing the period of 14 days of furlough on which he was released as per rules.
A team of specialist medicos, including a physician, neurologist, neurosurgeon, intensivist and a cardiologist are taking care of him, the hospital said.
Soon after his release on furlough, Pravin had said he would spend days with his wife and two children at his Thane residence.
He had also said he would not make any contact with or meet any of his friends or acquaintances.
On April 22, 2006, Pravin had shot Pramod Mahajan at his Worli residence in Mumbai. Pramod succumbed to bullet injuries May 3 that year.
