The inmates of Beur central jail here along with the jail officials are busy working on a special Hindi magazine called “Drishtikon”.

“This magazine will be a rare one as all the writing or stories will be reported and contributed by the inmates of the jail,” Beur jail Superintendent Omprakash Gupta said.

The inmates chose Gupta as the editor and a jailor named Daniel Dinesh Mitra as the sub-editor. In addition, two trainee jail officials were chosen as news editors.

“We have invited news reports and features from inmates of different jails across the state. All the news reports and features in the magazine will focus on the good work and positive activities of the inmates in jails and different schemes going on in jails,” Gupta told IANS over phone.

“We have received some reports from inmates of Gaya, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur jails,” he said.

Gupta said the magazine will be printed at Bhagalpur central jail.

“After printing, the magazine will be distributed to most of the jails across India by the jail authorities,” he said.

There are 54 jails including six central jails in Bihar in which over 40,000 prisoners are lodged.
