Puran Chand Bansal, a resident of Ashok Vihar-Phase II, had left his house to go to his shop in Paharganj area when he was accosted by the gunmen at 9.45 a.m., a police official said.

“Bansal had left his house in a car with the cash bag when four motorcycle borne men stopped the car a few meters away from his house. They snatched the bag at gunpoint and escaped,” he said.

According to police, the assailants were standing at a shop near Bansal’s house waiting for him to come out.

“We suspect the involvement of people known to Bansal as the looters knew the time he left for the shop,” the official said.

Bansal’s driver and the man outside whose shop the incident occurred are being questioned.
