By DPA,
Copenhagen: A total of 119 heads of state and government were expected to attend the final two days of the UN climate change summit in Copenhagen, the Danish prime minister’s office announced Wednesday.
The almost two-week summit opened Dec 7 and was scheduled to end Friday.
Among leaders due to attend the final phase of the talks were US President Barack Obama, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Indian premier Manmohan Singh, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
That tally suggests that the climate summit was on track to be one of the largest to date.
