Air India to operate more flights to Port Blair, Goa

New Delhi : In order to meet the demand for more seats during the year-end festive season, national carrier Air India Friday announced additional flights to Port Blair and Goa.

“We will operate additional flights to augment capacity to popular holiday destinations – Port Blair and Goa – and will ensure that tourists from various states and across the world are not disappointed for want of seats on a flight,” the airlines said in a statement.

The carrier, which expects a surge in demand for tickets ahead of Christmas and the New Year, will operate 19 additional daily flights from Chennai to Port Blair from Dec 23 to Jan 10.

“The flight will depart Chennai at 7 a.m. and reach Port Blair at 9.05 a.m. On return, the flight will depart Port Blair at 9.45 a.m. and arrive at Chennai at 11.50 a.m,” the statement said.

The airline will also operate an additional flight on the Kolkata-Port Blair-Kolkata sector Dec 24 and Dec 29 to meet the passenger rush. Additionally, it will operate three charter flights on this sector Jan 4, Jan 7 and Jan 10.

The airline has also planned to operate additional flights on the Delhi-Goa-Delhi route from Dec 23 to Jan 7 to meet the anticipated rise in demand for seats to Goa for Christmas and New Year.

The additional flight to this sector will operate Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. It will leave Delhi at 2.30 p.m. and reach Goa at 5 p.m.

The return flight will leave at 5.40 p.m. and reach Delhi at 8.25 p.m.

According to the airline, the additional flights to both Port Blair and Goa will be operated with 122-seater Airbus A319 aircraft.

Besides this, the airline, which is the lifeline to the North-East, has decided to operate additional flights from Kolkata to Aizawl Dec 19 and to Dimapur Dec 20 and Dec 23 on the eve of Christmas.
