This was conveyed by External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna to British Foreign Secretary David Miliband during a telephonic conversation, when the latter called up to give an invitation to the Conference of Afghanistan to be held Jan 28 in London.

A ministry of external affairs press release Tuesday said Krishna reiterated India’s position that the international community must show “unambiguously” its support to the Afghan government, as well as “continuing its support to the development and reconstruction of the country”.

According to the release, Krishna reiterated India’s determination to fulfil its commitments to the Afghan government and people as they build a “peaceful, democratic and pluralistic” Afghanistan.

He also asked the international community to show “unwavering commitment” in opposing and overcoming terrorism and those who give shelter to terrorists.
