Hyderabad: Jharkhand Governor K. Sankaranarayanan will hold additional charge of Andhra Pradesh following the resignation of N.D. Tiwari over his alleged involvement in a sex scandal.
Sources at Raj Bhavan said President Pratibha Patil has accepted Tiwari’s resignation and asked the Jharkhand governor to hold the additional charge.
Tiwari faxed his resignation letter to the president saying he was quitting on health grounds.
Tiwari, who was sworn in as governor Aug 22, 2007, would be leaving Hyderabad Sunday.
The central government is reportedly considering names of Sankaranayanan and former union home minister Shivraj Patil as governor of Andhra Pradesh.
Political observers said since the state may plunge into constitutional crisis with the mass resignations of the ministers and legislators from Telangana region, the state needs a full time governor at the earliest.
