Patna : The Bihar government will hold a cabinet meeting aboard boats on the Ganga river here next month to drive home the need for pollution-free and healthy water bodies, an official said Wednesday.
The decision was taken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He directed officials Wednesday to make arrangements for the next cabinet meeting on the holy river.
Last month, the Bihar government had set up a State Ganga River Basin Authority (SGRBA) to control water pollution, and manage the discharge of sewage into the river. About 30 large drains here discharge about 190 million litres of untreated sewage and garbage into the river every day.
The state cabinet Tuesday met at the convention centre of the Shanti Stupa atop Gidhakuta Hills in Rajgir.
Rajgir is the home district of Nitish Kumar. In the last four years, he has announced various development projects in the district.
