Jammu woman files rape complaint against four LeT guerrillas

Jammu : In the first incident of its kind, a woman from Jammu region has filed a complaint of rape against guerrillas of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit and identified one of the atatckers during a parade of the suspects, the police said here.

Shah Bano, wife of Shafi Gujar, a resident of Zainidal Bhaderwah, claimed she was gang raped by four guerrillas of the LeT and filed a police complaint.

“The complainant identified an arrested LeT militant named Imtiyaz Ahmad inside the police station during an identification parade of the suspects last week,” a senior police officer said in Bhaderwah.

The officer said Imtiyaz was arrested during a raid by the police on Jan 18.

According to Prabhat Singh, senior superintendent of police (Doda), Shah Bano and her husband had approached the police for registering the complaint immediately after learning about the arrest of the LeT guerrilla.

“She claimed to have been gang raped by Imtiyaz and three other militants of the LeT in August last year,” the police officer said.

The victim has also claimed in her First Information Report that she was five months pregnant when the incident occurred.
