Hand grenade attack in mosque kills in Pakistan

Islamabad : At least one person was killed and 15 injured in a mosque in an explosion in a Pakistani northwestern city on Tuesday, witnesses said.

An unidentified man threw a hand grenade at Madni mosque in the city of Dera Ismail Khan, in North West Frontier Province, when the people were offering evening prayers.

Dr. Ashiq Saleem, Medical Superintendent of the District Hospital, said four of the injured are in critical condition.

Witnesses said that around 150 people were offering prayers when they were attacked.

The suspect fled after the attack. No group claimed responsibility of the attack.

The police cordoned off the area to Madni mosque at Imam Gate locality of the city.

Ambulances were sent to the blast site, witnesses said.
