London : The British Kashmiri Diaspora will observed the Kashmir Solidarity Day on Thursday by reiterating their determination to seek a just, honourable and peaceful solution for the disputed Himalayan region.
Marking the occasion, a noted Kashmiri leader Prof Nazir Ahmed Shawl has appealed to all the friends of Kashmir to raise an effective voice about continued denial of all the fundamental freedoms and human rights in the troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Kashmir Centre Director urged the international community to recognize the urgency of resolving the long lingering Kashmir dispute saying that peace in south Asia is linked to Kashmir resolution.
He expressed hope that new administration of President Barack Obama will fulfil its responsibility towards the suffering people of Kashmir and play a role of a facilitator in the relations between India and Pakistan and keep the composite dialogue on track.
Shawl further stated that a political space so essentially needed for Kashmiri representatives in the dialogue will also be pursued with enthusiasm.
He praised the resilience of the Kashmiri people for remaining resolute and steadfast in face of continued Indian oppression for the past six decades and said their sacrifices will eventually bear fruit one day.
