Markets continue in the red in afternoon

Mumbai : Indian equities markets continued in the red Wednesday afternoon, with a key index ruling 0.31 percent lower than its previous close about 90 minutes before the closing bell.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 9,462.14 points, was trading at 9,608.78 points, down 0.31 percent or 29.95 points.

Among broader market indices, the BSE midcap index was trading 0.15 percent higher, while the BSE smallcap was up 0.07 percent.

At the same time, the broader-based S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was at 2,927.8 points, 0.23 percent lower than its previous close of 2,934.5 points.
