Dhaka, Bangladesh : Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Alamgir Mohammad Babar on Friday called on Awami League President Sheikh Hasina at Sudhasadan here and congratulated her on her party’s landslide victory in the December 29 general election.
Later talking to reporters, the Pakistani envoy said, “I came here to congratulate Sheikh Hasina, the leader of AL-led grand alliance, on achieving a great success in the last Monday’s parliamentary election.”
Babar said President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Yusuf Gilani hailed Sheikh Hasina for her election victory. “I also conveyed the greetings of President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani to Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
During the meeting, he said, we have discussed issues related to bilateral relation between the two friendly countries and ways how to further strengthen it in the days to come.
Former Ambassador Muhammad Zamir, Sheikh Hasina’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana and Deputy Press Secretary to the Awami League chief Mahbubul Haq Shakil were present on the occasion.
