Havana : President Raul Castro met with Iran´s Industry and Mining Minister Ali Akbar Mezharabian, who was the bearer of a message from President Mahmud Ahmadineyad to the Cuban head of state.
According to an official statement released Thursday in Havana, Raul Castro asked Ahmadineyad´s special envoy to give his best regards to the Iranian leader.
The Cuban President also reiterated Cuba´s condemnation of the Israeli brutal aggression on Gaza.
Raul Castro briefed Mezharabian on the steps taken by the Non-Aligned Movement against Israeli crimes in the occupied Palestinian territory.
He also voiced his confidence about the future prospects of the Iranian-Cuban relations, which are based on mutual respect and benefits, the text added.
Mezharabian also brought a message of greetings to Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro and stressed Iran´s friendship and solidarity towards Cuba.
The meeting held yesterday´s afternoon was also attended by
Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque, Deputy Foreign Minister Marcos Rodriguez Costa and Iranian Ambassasdor to Cuba Mostafa Alaei.
