Chennai, India : BJP asked the Centre (federal govt) and Andhra Pradesh state government to take steps to protect the interests of 50,000 employees and investors of the scam-hit Satyam Computers.
“The government of India and Andhra Pradesh state government should take all steps to protect the interests of investors and the company’s employees,” senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu told reporters on the sidelines of the BJP’s Youth Rally here on Sunday.
Naidu said he would not level any “serious allegations” against the Andhra Pradesh state Government as investigations are currently on.
On the ongoing nationwide trucker’s strike, he alleged the government had been “sleeping” on the issue and should have held talks with the transporters much earlier.
“The government should be proactive and try to have talks with agitating transporters as prices of essential commodities have gone up, despite inflation going down,” he said.
To a query on the Mumbai terror attacks, he alleged the government had not taken any steps, though 50 days had passed since the incident occurred. “They are making various announcements, but have not done anything,” he said.
“When Parliament was attacked by terrorists, within 22 minutes they (terrorists) were killed. But the Congress did not do anything on the Mumbai attack issue,” Naidu said.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, he said the BJP government would implement POTA, which was withdrawn by the UPA government, if the party was voted to power.
He also urged the youth to get themselves registered in voter’s lists for the coming Lok Sabha (lower House) elections. “You should register yourself, as it is not only your right (to vote), but also your responsibility towards the nation,” he said.
