Gaza : Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas vowed to continue fighting after Israel declared a unilateral ceasefire in the Gaza Strip Saturday evening.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Saturday evening declared a unilateral ceasefire in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, beginning from 2 a.m. (0000 GMT) Sunday.
In a statement sent to the reporters, the armed wing of Hamas al-Qassam Brigades said, “The declaration of Olmert showed Israel is defeated before the Palestinian armed resistance,” and “the Israeli declaration of unilateral ceasefire is an evidence of the occupation failure to achieve victory in Gaza.”
The Al-Qassam Brigades also said that they “will continue resistance as long as the occupation of Gaza continues and the blockade is imposed.”
After Olmert declared unilateral ceasefire, Israel warplanes struck two targets, one in the northern Gaza Strip and the other in the western Gaza City.
