Jammu : J&K: Omar welcomes LeT’s truce offer; Says violence no solutionChief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has welcomed the truce offer by Lashkar-e-Toiba in Kashmir.
Talking to the media persons, here today, Omar said that the statement by LeT spokesman that the outfit was ready to shun the path of violence in Jammu and Kashmir was welcome and it will go a long way in bringing out lasting peace and tranquility in the state.
“I welcome the statement but it would be too early to speculate”, Omar said adding, “It is good that they are talking peace and non-violence”.
He said that his party has always believed that violence was no solution to the Kashmir issue.
Lashkar-e-Toiba had on Saturday said that it doesn’t see armed struggle as the only way to achieve its goal of freedom for Kashmiris, and if freedom can be achieved peacefully it would welcome it.
“If the world listens to our cries and plays its role in resolving Kashmir issue there is no point in continuing fighting,” the spokesman of Lashkar-e-Toiba, Dr Gaznavi had said in a statement.
